I am a big fan of old farm houses too! This is a very dreamy and beautiful image, the border adds to it.

Michaelle,
I love this photo. I have traveled from one end of our country to another and one thing has always caught my attention - abandoned houses in the countryside. I always wanted to travel and take photos of nothing but these type structures. Why? I don't know, they just fasinate me. Maybe your title explains some of the "why? "Because They Were There" stirs the emotions of thinking of the people that once occupied these dwellings. As you can tell, your photo has really touched me. Thanks for giving me this moment.

[ Nice vacation cabin for rent.] You did a great job with tones/coloring.

Michaelle - Just wonderful!!! Love everything about it, including the framing! The house reminds me of ones I saw when I visited relatives in Alabama. Wish I had been into photography then like I am now!
I love the wavery sort of quality that makes you wonder about its echoes through time.

Very lovely in a calm, quiet sort of way. This looks as if it was processed using some sort of alternative method and doesn't have that "digital" look, which is great in this instance because of the subject matter. Puts me in mind of some of Rob Holschbach's stuff or a really good pinhole, or possibly a liquid emulsion print. There is detail where it should be and softness where detail is not needed to give it a lazy day kind of mood. I agree with you that the flowers in the foreground add a nice touch. The framing is appropriate, gives the composition a boost in the long-ago and far away department, nostalgic. I like this a lot.

Thank you everyone for you wonderful comments. I don't get a chance to go down this back road that often anymore, which is a pity because there are some really great old houses that have so much to tell about what this area was like before strip malls and McDonald's. This house once stood om 60 acres of land - or at least that is what I am told - over the last 25 years or so it has been whittled down to about 3/4 of an acre to make way for modernization. Over the course of that time, the owners abandoned the house.

Again, thank you for your kind words.

Michaelle

Simply beautiful and the light seems a little bit mysterious. That place probably would have a lot to tell...

I could visualize an old couple sitting on a rocking chair sipping on their lemonade! Great PS work with a soft focus.

It's difficult to match a frame with a photo - and you have done it perfectly - the photo is beautifully crafted - whatever you did, it all turned out well
