umm i beleve your photo is not right,, you need a polarizer and try a ND 2 filter as well!! look someting like this, :)
ps!, never crop enny land photos!!! ruins there portrate levels,, only do crop if something you dont like got in the way, or pilons in the water, ya know, walf shots where boats get tied up, speacialy close up shot,, :)
Enhanced over all lighting, used a light satuation, incresed blue coloure by 12 steps, decresed brightniss by 12 steps, smooth noise reduction to max and tonal range to max :)

It depends on what you want to focus on. In the first version, your eye is drawn to the boat then follows the line of waves diagonally across the image. In the second the waves are a little overpowering and the boat looks better in the second, it isnt the focus of the image as much anymore. I would go with the second and just do something to lessen the draw of the waves. The vertical crop that chris suggests does help with this problem though i still the boat has to fight for dominance in that image too. Also, I would try to increase the blue in the water. To do this use a selective color adjustment layer and follow the steps on the usefilm digital polarizer tutorial. Other than that its a very nice image.

Nice, love the horizont ;-)
Oh, yes the second version for sure is much better. cause the focus is on the wave. I love the second one.

Natalie,

You have a good image here but a lot of wasted space. What I think works here is a vertical crop and off set the sail boat. I am posting a cropped version that I also adjusted the levels a bit to bring out the blue in the water.
