Sandy,

I like your protrait here... its quite candid in its own way. I disagree with Hayri also. I think that it works much better as a full frame image. I like the venting in the bottom left. It gives me a feel for where the photo was taken and makes me wonder about how and why.

Istanbul? I spent 5 years in Turkey when I was young. My parents were in the military. Adana then Izmir and finally Ankara for a stint. It's a small world!

Sandy, this is a fine art crop, and it's pretty much how I would do it. Hayri's crop works just as well, but I think his eye is more towards the journalistic end of it.

I like her in this position and the empty space on the left, I'm not sure about the pipe, maybe adds, maybe distracts, but it's reality! In these situations I try to blur the background a bit, in any case she's so attracting that it's hard to notice something else. Bye Max

P.S. I could go either way on the crop. The pipe adds atmosphere while Haryi's close crop emphasizes Karen's expression. Both good.

Hello Sandy:

A wonderful image that captures the moment -- and Karen's personality -- with great warmth and humor. --Jim

You have an eye for capturing reality, Sandy... Don't ever lose it :-)

I still like your crop better than the square one. The blank space to the left makes it even more interesting and less common.

Cheers

Very nice motion shot and desive moment. I like the lighting used. But it should be much better if you cut the left side as like;

i am wondering about the crop..as in, should i have? i tried and it did not have the same effect..
i think the silver pipe adds a bit more reality of surrounding to the piece..
thanks..
:)
