About I am getting into the mood of Halloween . I hope everyone gets a smile and I hope I get to do more of these type pictures before the Scary night . This image was not P.S to much like I said before saturation was adjusted a bit and a high pass filter for "fog"
I do have a question do the buckles on the boot bother anyone ?

Lissa,
The buckles on the boots look good to me bcuz of the "shadowed" weather. You could always try zooming into the buckle and "painting" some "white" on the buckles to look like a reflection. But, then it might not "fit" the atmosphere. I saw those boots last night!!! :-)

A darker image would improve but not too dark.... I find Elin's image to be too dark and the details are all gone. Good suggestion though.

Great Shot, my eye were drawn to the buckles even before I read your comments.
I dont know if that is good or bad.

This is really great work... you've set everything up so well. You found the pumpkin patch, the wonderful vintage jacket and boots! All the elements are placed so perfectly! How did you get rid of the head? :-) This definitely sets the mood for Halloween! Congrats to you! I look forward to others!

This is a great photo, but maybe you would want to carve a face into the pumpkin he's holding

Joseph Davis   {K:607} 10/26/2003
Love this photo. The buckles don't "bother" me at all. If I were to add anything, maybe have the pumpking "carved" & lit, ala the fairy tale. That may be a bit hokey to some, but as my friend Kerry Black used to say, "Who cares!"

Great image, Lissa! Superb PS work.
How did you come up with the title? I'd be interested to know.
Kind regards, Chris
P.S. 'Ichabod' ~ a tragic name, given to an individual as a summary of the plight of his nation. It means 'the glory has departed' ~ referring of course, to God's glory having departed from an apostate Israel and from its temple. A sad reflection of the its rebellion and unbelief.

Lissa, sorry I had not seen your question about the buckles on the boots. I think they add to the shot. Would not change it at all. The only thing that might possibly improve this shot, if done properly, would be to add a lightning bolt.

I am so glad this is getting the recognition it deserves. I see an Editors Choice coming up on this one. GREAT WORK!!!!

Karen

This is great Lissa. Excellent ps work. I agree the darker image is too dark... you lose too much. This is really just perfect. A great idea, well thought out and what a way to get into the mood and spirit of halloween. Nicely composed and great ps work. The fog and desaturation were perfect to enhance the mood of this photo. I see it has received quite a bit of attention and I know that will not stop here. Super work from the fog to the attire.

You rock girl!! Keep up the great work. Regards, your friend, Karen

Even though, I am not into horror; I can appreciate this well thought out and well executed image. Top marks from me - Original, well composed and perfectly executed.

Richard Marriner   {K:6657} 10/21/2003
Good work Lissa, it gave me a smile. Effective use of the high pass filter for a nice aura effect. I like the buckles, they seem to work. The only thing which perhaps is the "tiniest" bit distracting is the difference in width/size between the legs due to the different angles. I agree with you that the photo doesn't need to be darker overall. But as you say, perhaps a darker, more ominous sky would be good, perhaps clouds backlight by a rather spooky, bluish full moon. Now there's a job for Photoshop! :)

We don't really do Halloween over here so it's interesting to see what other people get up to.

The buckles are great as is the rest of the photo. I love the hint of fog and the pumpkins scattered about just right. Nice job! (Maybe the sky could be made more ominous looking? I'm not much of a ps user, just wondered.)
