I self imposed a project due to this Halloween days. I should try to find a not-so-used image that would transmit the Halloween spirit... you know... the ghosts, the frightening spirit in the air... I didn't want to shot another pumpkin with eyes, or an skeleton.... so when I was completely sure my mind couldn't find the perfect subject I found this flower. A really frightening flower, almost a deadly alive flower (a zombie flower?). I took the photograph in B+W mode and then I add some shadowing in the corners with PS, I also duotonized it to enhance the effect. Booohh!
I've found that I like dead-looking B&W flower photos a lot more than the usual colourful, happy floral shots. This is no exception. The subject is a good one, and your choice of duotone works well for me. As for the composition, I'd like to see a few more variations, as I'm not too sure about the distribution of empty space in this version.
