Hallo Ben,
Mijn complimenten. Groetjes,
Diana.

Hello Ben:

Earth and sky, water and life, and expectations turned on their head. In this case, the expectation is that an object viewed through a convex lens will appear inverted at the focal point. But it is not. Is the deep blue droplet a mirage? Or are the laws of physics in suspension? Whatever the reason, things are clearly not as simple as they seem. Perhaps the split between heaven and earth is a clue to the meaning here. The only place the converge is within the mystic drop, where the branches of the tree meet the trunk.

Beyond an image of mystery, it is an image of great beauty. The flaring clouds, the undulating earth the rich color tapestry all isolated within its own black frame -- all are strinkingly original and memorable.

Technically, everything is crafted to perfection -- color, composition, movement and distortion. The only exception is a pair of faint vertical lines that begin on a tangent to the droplet and run through the clouds. If they have a purpose, I can't discern it. Perhaps they are unwanted artifacts?

The use of KPT filters fascinate me. After a decade spending far more time than is reasonable or sane experimenting with every set from KPT 2 to KPT 7, I think I've only ever found one practical application -- making texture overlays with Fraxflame II. Would love to know how you incorporated KPT here.

At the end of the day, it is another extraordinary Ben Go[oo]ssens image full of myster and a trademark palette of browns, inky blues and blacks. Magnificent!!!!! --Jim

A little un-physical (optically speaking), but I like the tones in this image.
