Very nice Peta, it looks like she's been for a visit to the briar patch. Like the high key look not much left but a tiny nose eyes and lips.

One of your best, Peta! The overlay makes this portrait very interesting, old and modern at the same time. Very well done!

This really is beautiful Peta-- the softness, the high key, and the toning all work well here. You're getting soooo good at this! Would you please take a look at my latest landscape and comment/rate-- it's soft and moody and one I think you might like and a favorite of mine. Thanks. Craig

My God! You did it again! [don't you have something else to do for awhile?...you're sucking all the oxygen out of UF with these marvelous images!]

But no!, no!, no! on the poem. This image is too imagiste' for Byron. Try this:

Let them not war in me,
these three;
Saviour-of-cities,
Flower-of-destiny
and she,
Twinborn-with-Phoebus,
fending gallantly.

Let them not hate in me,
these three;
Maid
of the luminous grey-eyes,
Mistress
of honey and marble implacable white thighs
and Goddess,
chaste daughter of Zeus,
most beautiful in the skies.

Let them grow side by side in me,
these three;
violets,
dipped purple in stark Attic light,
rose,
scorched [on Cyprus coast]
ambrosial white
and wild
exquisite hill-crocus
from Arcadian snows.

Wow Peta.
Excellent image. Composition is perfect, and the light makes those eyes come out incredibly well.
Thx for sharing.

My interpretation of this poem...and the soul of my daughter, Byron's words perfectly embody her.

George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron. 1788?1824

She walks in Beauty

SHE walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that 's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light 5
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impair'd the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face; 10
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
