About The "fish" in this scene is among the first photos I took with the new Nikon CP 990 in May 2000. It's a model of what palentologists at Yale once thought, based on the fossil record, was the first creature to make the transition from water to land. Current thinking envisions something much more like a modern crocodile. In any event, it's now part of a composite photo illustration that seems a fitting companion to "Nightswimming." As for the title, I've seen my life flash before my eyes (metaphorically, at least) a couple of times, and those were always the first words to come to mind. Comments welcome.

Thanks guys. This actually began as a "serious" piece which I had intended as a part of an ongoing visual exploration of evolution. But after "Nightswimming," I just couldn't restrain myself.

And, Dave, the idea has crossed my mind. But then I'd probably have to do a whole bunch of the images in duotone to keep printing costs down.

Humorous and effective. Jim, you need to think about marketing these, if you haven't already. Here, let me title your first book: "(Adventures in) Blue." ;-)

Jim; Nice title for this surrealistic and well composed photo art piece.

Jim - you are so darn creative. I wish you would send some my way. I am waiting for you to open up your PS Workshops. I am going to attempt some of my projects this weekend.

It's not photorealism, but more like situational realism. LOL. This is like an ongoing theme in this universe...that in order for life to continue, something must eat or be eaten.

One thing that comes across to me is not just how good your PSA work is bbut about the mind behind it...I magine, that if you wanted to you could do a very serious illustration...but it is the humor, or the dark humor that lies just under the surface (no pun intended) that come out in your images....the creativity...another excellent image

I think it must be the most common expletive when something terrible is about to happen, but it really does some up this image, I think it is incredible, I really love it, so well done, Jim you are just sooo good at PS, I wish I had your imagination. Top marks my friend, this is great - Richard.

You have constructed a really good image, sort of believable, sort of mechanical, but graphically all together to let us view a fish in an alternate universe (but nearby).
