About This is another version of my recent post, Water, http://www.usefilm.com/image/182016.html. I posted this one based on feedback from Matej that there was nothing to hold his eye, that perhaps a rock in the foreground would balance this more.

To get this image I had to lose part of the swirly cloud on top. I also PS'd a lot of this image. The original image was WAY underexposed (do not try to out think a camera with a brain more powerful than your own). I did levels adjustment, saturation boost, and unsharp mask. I also cloned out the buoys based on feedback on the other image.

Anyway...here it is :)

This is definitely the better comp. of the two. although, i like clouds and i miss the swirly one ;^) the rocks in the foreground do add to this as does eliminating the buoys. keeping the boats was a good idea though. besides all that, i really liked the exposure of the first one. it may not be the 'correct' exposure, but i tend to like the natural color saturation you get from underexposing. the original pic had more detail in the reef due to this. all -in all a great shot!! i really like your work and look forward to seeing more.

Lovely work Mary Sue. There's a wonderful layered effect to the composition that I really like. The colors are strong but not overwhelming and everything is placed perfectly within the frame. The use of objects in the foreground and the boat in the distance adds a little compositional tension to the image to keep it from stagnating and getting boring. A very nice image.

Yes, I like this one better. The big swirly white cloud that had to go was too dominant; this version is indeed more balanced IMO, and the remaining coulds are still very impressive. The rocks at the bottom provide a nice anchor, thanks to which my eyes are less inclined to quickly shoot upwards, and I find it easier to concentrate on the water and the boat.

In the middle of the top edge, there's a small solid white area where the edge seems to tear into the image. Maybe you could do a small crop to get rid of that bit.

I think you did a great job on this too...I have a similar project I am working on...the addition of the rocks in the foreground is a perfect steppin stone (no pun intending) to the middle of the picture with that gorgeous clear water...excellent perspective, glad you left the boats in and took out the bouy...lightening the sky worked well...but you did lose those beautiful clouds...overall I think this works far better than the original

I do like this version better. (Just looked at the previous one.) You have done a great job in PS with the clouds. Were the stones in the original and you cloned them out initially? I also agree that the "loss" of the bouys makes a nice change. The colors of the water and the sky are lovely. The clarity is great. Great job of fixing an image that had a few "issues."
