I believe that to mine modest opinion this photograph is a large one.. a right accomplishment of what is the effect of motion of the water. wisely taken again in right exhibition and with an attractive transformation in tones sepia! the composition with a horizontal cut is attractive but I believe that also a vertical cut is of large effect, or rather would increase the effect of the motion, capturing a little one of more the high part of the river, and the final part!
cheers
roby

Phillip, this is exactly what I'm looking forward to achieve with a water falls shot.
I know the idea is to us a slow shutter speed so that it will give a blur effect on the falling water, and a high apperture value to get a sharp image. Only I had no idea what values to use. Given your settings, next time I'm gonna try them.
Ever tried it using one of 'Soft-Filters' to get similar effect?

What do you think?

Hi Philip, it is a wonderful picture a nice landscape and water picture, wonderful work in b/w. I like to work in 4x5inch. I work also with an Linhof Master Technika. Fore my viewing is also a good example is a valuable picture for education. You must know i am a photo teacher :-)).
For m a small blemish, the sharpness maybe is the result from the lowest resolution from JPG files
However it is nevertheless an excellent picture, congratulation
greetings from Rolf Rock (rolfrock@slovanet.sk)
If you have a possibility please visite my page again for my newest pictures.
Thanks !!!

is the water moving or are the rocks moving
?
or are both still
moving in stillness
only your mind is moving ceaselessly
:)
a true zen image
