I have a 3 year old, and a 2 year old kid. Two weeks ago I showed this photo to my oldest son. Since then, on a daily basis, every time I come back from work, one of the first things he'll ask me to do is to show him your photo!
I hope you take this as the highest of complements :-)

I feel like I am face to face with this cow! Bravo for a well captured shot!
The blues are so vivid and the Greens so lush. You have caught so much detail in this shot. From the fence, the cows fur, and the grass in the mouth. This is one great shot!

Tremendous detail in the steer's fur and in the fencepost nearby. Where I grew up we used have lots of gnarly fence-posts made from osage orange trees - I love that in this post we see the details left by worms and insects.
This is a creative way to frame what would othewise be a cliched image of either a farm, a fence, or a cow....
I almost talked myself into one of these cameras - what do you think of yourse?

Outstanding composition, with a great sense of humour....A very sharp and joyful picture...! Maybe the horizon tilted would be repaired on the right top corner, but it's only to make a constructive comment...:-)

A fascinating and original composition, Terry, with wonderful colors and texture. I can see why this won first place. It's difficult indeed to find new ways to see the commonplace. I especially like the fact that you included a little touch of the sea in the background.

Thanks everyone for all your comments thus far on my cow photo. It has to be one of my all time fav's that I have taken. I have printed this to 32x40 with a special printer and it still looks great! I love how the colors turned out. Thanks to Devon who kept the cow happy with the grass she was feeding it!

Excellent shot, Terry! I love the crop you chose - as though the bull just happened into the frame to say 'whatchadooin?' :) At first I wasn't too sure about the fence post on the right, but in the end I think it serves to balance the bull somewhat. Really good one!

Being from the dairy state - Wisconsin - this is very appealing. Although I live in the big city (outside Milwaukee) I grew up across from a farm and remember the cows, especially the smell. But this photo is not a stinker. Nice crop, it seems a bit oversaturated which digital tends to do, a bit heavy on the blues, but the colors in the cow, er bull are wonderful as is the detail. Not your typical bovine shot. Welcome, you'll like it here!
