You want it to be more complicated because of something you have been deprived of in your own personal life.
Do you think that you understand matters meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest in certain matters?
Nevertheless, be not enchanted because it did not arouse my curiosity at all because in these days and times men can quite easily acquisition 'Inflatable Life-Size Dolls' quite inexpensively to satisfy their perverted sense gratification ...

Nevertheless, why would someone fall in love with his own sculpture of a Tree Nymph whether made of ivory or otherwise? There lies the answer to your question I believe ...
