Hi Dave,
I just saw one of your Hummingbird shots in the Canadian Wildlife Federation contest. Nice shot!
I used to participate in that contest for a while and then stopped for some reason. I actually took runner up for my B&W Swan image back in May 2006 in the Reflections of Nature Contest. They sent me all kinds of nice Canadian Wildlife Association goodies in a big package one day. I had no idea what it was for when it came by courier. It was a nice surprise.
I think they are doing it a little differently now.
Unfortunately the gallery of winners only goes back to 2007 now. So, I don't get any more exposure from that site.
Anyway, Good luck in the contest!!

Superb macro shot Dave, the lighting and the DOF are great as well as the choice of the 1/1000 sec shutter speed.

The bird is well located in the frame. The point of view is allowing us to distinguish the details and colors of the hummingbird. It is clear and sharp. The blurry background is putting in evidence the bird,good job Dave,riny
