About Photographing maestro Giovanni Nuti was definetly a blast! A great man, an extraordinary musician and composer, a deep and intense poet... We had the chance and the honor to portait him choosing a unconventional location, as you could see below. Check out the full post with a slideshow video backstage on at the following link:

That's been definetly a tricky photoshooting to set up.

Armchair was placed over a steel structure built for the occasion standind on fountain's floor.
Maestro Giovanni Nuti's right foot was placed over a smaller structure as the one described above.

Main light came from an SB900 unit inside a square softbox overhead.
Fill lights came from an SB800 unit equipped with an Honl grid, camera right, in order to light the right side of the armchair, and another SB900 camera left, dome diffuser on, in order to light amrchair's front and water spilling from the fountain.

Lights activated by Pocket Wizard.

Neat creative project. Thank you for posting the link. I also appreciate the lighting and setup info. Of all the shots in the project so far (and they are really cool shots) I think I like this one the best.

Thank you so much everybody!
Rob, we choose to leave the street lights behind his head cause it was the setting and cause they are the reason for the golden reflections above water surface.

Excellent work

Rob Roy   {K:1432} 4/13/2010
Well composed and photographed. I would have liked even more if the street light behind his head had been Photoshop out.
