Hi Nick, thanks for your comments, yes the flower was bluish purple, not as light as you see here because of the huge difficultly I was having with the exposure on this compared to the rest of the frame. I was also very lucky that this Monarch was not worried about me getting close to it.

Thanks Len, brought a smile to my face reading your comment, yes I also like butterflies, but we don't seem to have very many here in New Zealand

Another one of the very very good images of monarchs that are posted to UF in the last few weeks. This one mazes me for the good details over a greater DoF and the brilliance of colors. The flower seems to have a tiny blueish tint but perhas it is really colored this way? Anyway, not really a problem as its brightness seems to be the perfect contrast for the richer darker tones of the insect.

Very very good and exact work, Dan!

Beautiful, professional shot.

(I've become particularly fond of butterflies since I stopped worrying about caterpillars...)

Beautiful work Dan, the colours are gorgeous and the details in the butterfly's wings are excellent. A great floral and wildlife nature study combined, well done. The actual flower is just the same as one I posted some weeks ago. Well done again my dear friend.
Is that another new lens??? I vaguely remember using this one's forerunner. All the best.......Ray
