Corrected you name that, Saad? At the cost of eliminating such a big part of contrast? Look what happens to the "corrrected" image when you adjust levels for contrast. You see? It is still there but the "correction" camouflaged it at the cost of lowering contrast.

Such tricks are only cleap. Either the shot is good in your sense or forget it. Of course the question is then, what was your sense for that, and what you wanted to do. But if the image is not what you wanted to do, throw it way. PS won't do it. Period.

Cheers!

Re-recorrected Saad's correction

Saad Salem Saad Salem   {K:89003} 8/17/2009
Hi Nick,
honesty calls,I have found that the shadows at this shot is not due to shadows of the pool wall,it is a lens effect, that could be corrected so easily by pulling a slider of my editing software, and I would like you to know that,
my best wishes,
Saad.

Corrected Lens Vignetting

Nick Karagiaouroglou Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:127263} 8/1/2009
I see exactly what you mean about the shadow, Saad. This was also why I asked. The richer contrast makes the shadow more visible, and so it of course lowers the strictness of the blue palette.

Which is rather a hint for careful composition, and perhaps also for an additional try after one has recognized the effect of the shadow. "Salvaging" via retouch is good and nice, but it also contains such drawbacks.

Cheers!

Nick

Hello dear friend Saad ,

I like so much this shot cause your idea has been carried out in a great way.

Like the nearly unique color here . Good position of that grate for water unloading .

Superb composition.

Well done !

yes dear Nick,
thank you first, and I always afraid to push anything towards its full limit,
may be I will learn to do that ,after all I was dealing with pros and semipros for more than two years now.
one thing to tell Nick,I always go to the near extreme in editing, then starts to decrease little by little ,until I find the happy spot,in this case it was the shadows that turns black at the full limit, then I started to decrease the levels until the shadows blends nicely with cyan color,
be well,
Saad.

BTW, what is the shadow at the right? The wall of the pull?

Cheers!

Very tight and simple concept with a great impact, Saad! The composition and the color palette are minimal and sufficient for enhancing only what was important for the image and avoid anything superfluous. Almost monochrome in cyan hues and quite efficient in its geometric look.

I do think that the low contrast introduced an interesting kind of cyan "haze" over the image, which adds a specific more personal note. It looks "hazy" the way one sees when under water. Still I could imagine it also with a maximum possible contrast as a better enhancement of the very important mesh of lines under the small distortions of wavelets on the water surface. (Attachment.)

Cheers!

Nick

Beautifully simplistic and minimalistic Saad with a gorgeous rich tone for the water and two lovely corner vignettes. The tiles of the pool provide a nice patterning and the water vent is well placed for balance. Well done my dear friend. A welcome back HUG and very best wishes again for you.......Ray
