Thanks so much Yamil for your visit and comment. I saw your hawk imagines at your flickr site, very nice. I will have to visit there and keep my eyes in the sky at a glimpse of one of these majestic birds. I would have loved to have your lens this weekend because while driving I spotted a big bird with a white tail and white head (that's all I really noticed because I was too far away). I didn't even have binoculars with me, so I tried to look through my longest lense to see what kind of bird it was. Much to my surprise, when I got home I discovered it was our very own country's national symbol, the Bald Eagle. I then realized that even though these birds are making a remarkable recovery, they are still a very rare sight. I spotted him in the Tahoe Nat'l Forest flying over the hwy, then perching himself in a tree in the middle of a big open grassy field.

He is a beauty, Brigitte! The elk is very well defined against the tall grass. The flat skylight gives the antler velvet a pleasing outline. I like that you managed detail in the dark areas of the neck and a catch light, even! Wow!

Thank you my friend, John... I was pleased with how sharp the image is... not bad for this lens. And the Elk happened to be standing very still. I was fairly close also... did not need to crop the image much at all. Appreciate your visit and kind words. Hope you enjoy your Sunday as well. :-)

Thank you for your kind comment, Harry. I am sure he saw me, but did not feel I was a threat... I made sure to not get too close so that I would be in danger. These guys are big and can run up to 35 mph!
