Extremely well defined details and colors on the window, Dave! Your lighting balance is absolutely great here! But one can see that also on the fradients on the statues, that paint their shape in such a plasticity on the image!
The composition won much through the objects' illumination that lets them look somehow "isolated" but nonetheless also related on the image. They seem to be part of an intelligently put up theater scene.
Very effective!

Good shot. I like the way the statues are lit to make this more than a picture solely devoted to the rose window. It helps to create something of a context for it.

Hi Anthony, thanks for the very kind comment! As you've probably guessed this is a "bootleg" shot, as they don't allow photography in the museum of the cathedral, but I just couldn't resist. I was lucky to get a couple of quick shots off, and it turned out OK!

Two points: I was late coming to this picture of yours Dave, and your composition is quite brilliant. First, you and I were apparently in the same place recently - Siena cathedral was simply jaw-dropping for me. I am a big fan of Gothic architecture, and this building is quite untypical in its style of any other major building in Italy south of the Alps. Second, I am a big fan of your work.
