I know it's out of date to answer now... in croatia they say that black cat brings bad luck.. but i had black cat at home for few years, and everything was ok :-) in fact, my mother is going to have another cat, but must wait to cat grow up little bit :-)

Hmm... it depends on cat, Harry. Some cats really don't care and do their stuff (play or sleep), some just sit and watch, but some are really stressed... Poor them, I think their owners shouldn't bring them to shows when they're all trembling... Well, I saw a few really agressive, they just had enough I guess... Mostly it's OK, but some cats' owners are really stupid... or they bring the cats for thier champion titles or cash for kittens after titled parents. Sad...

What's wrong with UK cats Ania?? I think all cats are lucky and that is why they have nine lives. Some regard black cats unlucky if they pass directly in front of them, others say 'lucky black cat'. I just think they are all very lovely sweetie. I see you have a project with cats and that at the time of my writing my comments are too late. I hope you did well with this subject as you are of course the cat queen.
This is a lovely photograph Ania but the subject does have a rather sad kind of expression upon it's pretty face. It is just a little fed up with all the people at the cat show and would probably like to get back to normal . Excellent details and beautiful natural tones. Well done to you my lovely friend. For my cats never had bad luck, but if beauty and good vibrations.
The cat is an animal intelligent, independent and never stops at all tame. This is what has made them superstitious. Human ignorance founded the bad reputation of cats, simply because they are always free.
Needless to add, that I love. And the picture is beautiful, my dear Ania.

Hi Ania, in Turkey we also believe unluck for black cats.(but I know believe it, just a nonsense :) I wrote a BAD word instead of nonsense but UF doesnt accept the bad word :)so you imagine..

Yeah, your civilisation was better for cats than Western European, I mean the dark ages when cats were killed :(
Proudly for me, cats weren't being killed in Poland, the old saying here says that "to kill a cat is a great shame and dishonour".

it is not a bad superstitious in my Iraq in general,cause the peoples used it as the only pet inside their houses,other animals have being forbidden as pet by Muslims faith,I mean the dogs,they used only for guarding houses and sheep,but definitely there is something about them in Assyrian and Sumerian civilizations ,
