The subject was surely very very interesting, and the chosen frame was very good in order to have a nice well balanced composition in a tight color palette, Barbara. Unfortunately it went completely overexposed. The birds on the sky almost disappeared in that strong light. Their contours are too hard to see in many areas. Even those in the shadows start looking plasticity. I guess you metered light on the front shadows?
BTW, trying to get some better contrast in PS the many too many pixelation artefacts around the contours of the birds get really visible. So, did you also sharpened that afterwards because it was too blurry?
Anyway, good idea but the implementation...
