Just to put the cat among the pigeons, I tend to agree with Tony's suggestion. There's nothing really wrong with the image as is, but the crop would add more punch IMO.

I have to agree John. I appreciate the other members feedback, but when I tried it, to my eye it wrecked the whole picture.

I know they have a rule of thirds, and another member suggest you crop down. IMO you have the subject of the boats and a wonderful color composition here, I would leave this alone...

Beautiful image...

No,crop down on the superflous, from the far end of the pier and eliminate the Boathouse and tree.Their inclusion makes this photo more of a postcard type view.Anway, that's the way I would do it!
Best regards, Tony

Hi Tony and thanks for your excellent critique. If I understand you correctly, you mean to crop off the bottom portion of the pier? If that is the case I was debating whether or not to do that and hoping someone would make that suggestion. Let me know if I understand you correctly.

What's particularly pleasing about this photo is the light and colours of the pier and boats and the way this is beautifully complemented by the reflected colours in the water. If you crop down just at the end of the pier you have photo of much greater impact.See what you think?!
Best Wishes, Tony
