Thanks a lot for the advice, Dan! Now I have a much better hint about what to use. So, lemme go for that.

Cheers!

No I use SRGB everywhere, because then you also have less issues with printing, the screen mathcing is much closer to the print. The apple one would definately be better than the adobe one, more accurate colours on your given hardware.

Well, it can get to a problem if somebody uses something else, Dan. BTW, would you rather use the "officially recommended" profile for a given screen, or some widely used standard? I have the problem here that apple recommends her own profile for the screen of my iBook but on the other hand the Adobe profile seems to be widespread. And so I sit somewhere in the middle.

Cheers!

Nick

very appropriate to the concept.

You are very welcome, Dan!

Well, I always wondered why they don't standardize color management and screen calibration. I hope they will do some day, that is.

Cheers!

yeah I am with Nick K... needs that depth that a nudge in levels can produce

Thanks so much Nick, yes I think you are right, my problem is that it looked fine on two computers, but my work one seems to show the slight lack of contrast. Thanks so much for the critique my friend

Again that special kind of a familiar view in quite an unfamiliar cloth, Dan! It could be summer and it could also be winter under snow. The tension between the light and hard shadows on the one hand, and the "snowy" walls, fence and branches is great!

The composition is also quite consistent to me. There are no superfluous objects but only exactly what was needed. The many good details are an eye magnet for themselves, but in combination to that diffuse view that gets stronger toward the depth they are even stronger. Somehow they help the depth to evolve as they seem to vanish in a uniform way as we proceed into the distance backward.

Did it perhaps need more contrast? (Attachment.) I am not really sure about that, as the light diffusion to the deoth looks less strong then.

Very good work!

Nick

Adjusted levels for more contrast

Thanks so much Bob, your welcome Bob, sometimes I wish people were more critical of shots to help improve/ fine tune techniques etc.

All these IR shots are taken with a point and shoot I converted myself. IR filter on unmodified camera is ok but will never be the same as modified for capturing details, unless of course nothing is moving.

Also it depends on the type of IR photography you want to do, I have three different rated filters which give different effects, based on this I would never get a camera with the IR filter installed because that limits you.

The problem with SLR cameras with external filters is that you can't see through the filter to compose your shot, converted or not converted. One way around this would be to use a camera with live view.

Hi Dan I love your IR photography. I think IR in this picture especially gives it a ghostly feel. I want to try IR too but I think an IR filter on an unmodified camera just wont cut it. I got to find a cheap EOS 20D or something. Thanks for your critique on my pictures. I can use all the help I can get....:)
