About I'm not moving, and I've got all day... Taken on Ninth, just north of the Port Authority Bus Terminal seen in the background.

HDR processing of five exposures of a single image.

Amazing detailing my dear AJ with excellent depth and wonderful natural tones. Love the attitude oozing from the body language of 'David' . Well done to you my friend. All the best......Ray

Many thanks for your comment, Carrie - I always appreciate hearing what people really think.

I do in fact have shots where the policeman is the main subject. I do not see this shot as particularly artistic, but rather as a demonstration of what can be pulled out of a rather drab street-scene - in the original there is a harsh contrast between the light and shadow, and overall the image is rather grey.

i think your title makes this shot more interesting than it would have otherwise been. i really like the striking and rich red of the truck but i agree that it is the centre point of the picture rather than the policeman. a zoom on his expression or more focus on him would make this better i feel. i also agree re the cropping more tightly to the truck - the buildings distract. i hope you see as serious critique - but from a novice - so purely my opinion! cwx

For mr, the redness of the truck is what stands out, so I'd suggest cropping at the truck's highest point. And for New York, everone seems so nonchalant, which I also find appealing.

Thanks JD. It is a lot of work to set up a website from scratch, but I think it is ultimately more satisfying than using an automated or off-the-shelf design.

As far as this photograph is concerned, it is not really intended as high "art". I see it more as a humourous street scene. But it's a very busy scene, making it hard to get the cool policeman to stand out against everything else that's going on (including those buses on the flyovers!) I think the HDR helps this, adding a hint of comic-book drawing to it.

At the end of the day, this was a grab shot that turned out rather grey and dismal. HDR brought it to life. That's the view from my side, but as always your views are much appreciated and are a great help.

Hi John, I see you excellent webpage, perhaps someday I try one myself
about this picture not crazy with postprocess, I love HDR but think it must be a subtle work, love the deep reds and composition but do not like the verticals (not related to HDR, I know), grey tone of the sky and the red halo around of the street-lamp
