About One of the mystical emblem of Cuba: The Che, a revolution star... This metal sculpture is on the building facing up the big place where Fidel Castro made his public meeting with the people of Cuba. Tomorrow I'll post another version of this one.

Yes, I searched and found it some minutes ago, Jacques. A more "schematic" one and it resembles some stamps in T-shirts that I have seen from time to time. But I think that in the secind version the letters should really be erased. Then Che is "coming out of nowhere" - more or less. (Attachment).

Cheers!

Cloned off letters

Best wishes to you too, Jacques!

Well, the generation of "stars" is always good for marketing and merchandising, ey? ;-) Long live our highly praised totally free market along with its results, like for example what we witness in our days. :-D

Cheers!

jacques brisebois   {K:73883} 1/1/2009
thanks for all Nick, I know that the Che wasn't a star in the real life... people bring him to this with their explotation of this picture and his heritage...
wish you the best for 2009 my friend.

Good contrast against the wall, Jacques. And excpet for those trees at the bottom it is also a good composition as it includes its whole subject.

I guess that here there are two possible way to go. Either try to keep as much details on the wall, and avoid the overexposure that almost whipes them away. Or overexpose as much as needed for leaving only the contours of Che himself visible.

I tried to mimic what would have been if using the first possibility. So I burned a bit the background wall and raised also the contrast by level adjustment. Unfortunately not as many details remained to be revealed but one gets the idea.

About Che... the exact opposite of a "star". Not mystical at all. That idea behind the movement was also for returning to people what belongs to people and not to some "clever" insatiable guys. But our need for superstars is able to destroy any good idea in zero time.

Oops... we landed in the realms of time again? ;-)

Cheers!

Nick

Excellent piece of art... and what a great idea, surely a modern monument that works fine for His great modern ideas... can just a man change all the world? perhaps yes............

Hey I have seen this face before I believe, I think it was on a red T-shirt :-)
Never expected from you that you would move away from the arts to the world of politics. Yes start with the contours that is mostly sufficient to express the whole idea :-)
all the best,
Paul
