About This was the family my grandfather came from. This photo was taken right around 1930. I think I can remember all of them. I'll try and name them for you. Left to right, back row: Clarence. Not a Loy. He married Mildred, next to him... she was a Loy. Next is Great-grandma Loy. Ceilia. Between her and her husband is my grandfather. He was 20 in this photo. Next is Murray. My great-grandfather. His name was James Murray, Senior. Yes, my grandfather was James Murray, Junior. Next, in the back next to my grandfather is Meda... She was a hoot. She was hot. I have a photo of her sitting on a sawbuck. She was a very good looking woman. I was a pallbearer at her funeral. Next is Rachel, I was a pallbearer at her funeral, also. Then Lela. Lela would not live through the year. She died in 1930 of a ruptured appendix. The man next to her was Tom... not a Loy. Sitting on the ground was Bill. I would have liked Bill and I think he would have liked me. He died before I was born. The youngest turned away from the camera is Esther. She is still alive... but her mind is gone. The young girl right in front is Ruth (Rudy)... I knew her well. More on her later. The next was Rebbeka... Becky. She also died before I was born. I was reading an old newspaper clipping about Lela's death tonight (November 26, 2008) and I read this: "In less than nine months the Loy family has suffered the loss of five relatives. A son was drowned July 1, 1929 (That would be Ed... he is not in the photo) a nephew killed on August 7, 1929, another family member died in the Spring Valley Hospital September 6, 1929, A granddaughter died September 23, 1929, and Lela died on March 22, 1930." Going through my family stuff tonight, this is the first time I ever read the obituary for Lela. Now I need to do some research on the others who also died within the year. Crazy how stuff just "pops" up...

Wonderful family stories! Even without a photograph, a person can live forever. One small correction. That is my Great-gradfather in the middle and my grandfather in the back with the hair style. This was taken in 1930. My father was born in 1941 and I was born in 1958.

a very fine introduction, and it seems that you father is advancing his generation in his hair style,
I don't have a photo of my family like this one,
cause my father was an orphan at the age of four to five ,he barely remember his own father, but we know a lot of small stories about him, that is my grandfather,he is known in the city by the title Alsheakh ,and that is because he was Dervish,he was joined some religious cult related very deeply to mysticism,if it is not the mysticism by itself,
that title followed my father until his death in 2006,and followed me ,and my brothers till now,
we have one photo of my grandfather,he died young at the age of forty something,
my very best,
Saad.
