About Dear Usefilm friends,
after several weeks of absence a sign of life from me. Some things in my life have changed.
Having found a new job opportunity in Norway, I now live not far from Stavanger in a house with a view on the Gandsfjord.
Making you even more jealous the location is topped off with a beautiful mountain landscape in my backyard.
An ideal place to live in a friendly and civilised society. I admit having experienced some extremes :-)

Also another, say photographic metamorphosis: I finally bought my first SLDR camera. A Nikon D3 would have made me too nervous breaking or loosing it again during one of my journeys. For its price I could have bought four D90's. So I started with buying my first D90 :-)

Today I climbed up a 323 meter granite mountain: Dalsnuten enjoying the sunset with a splendid view over the Norwegian west-coast. On my way several other views. Let's start with my first capture of today: a B&W of Gramstadsjorma a small lake downhill. Hope you enjoy it.

My dear Paul.
But consider the price as well...Tamron-Nikon.
For last about twenty years,I work only with Nikon. But today I'll be happy with Panasonic Lumix FZ28 G-9 or FZ50 as well.
Have a great weekend my friend.
Stan~

Thank you Stan. I considered this new Tamron lens and it would be of surprising good quality in the 18-200 range. However I came across the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200 VR f/3,5-5,6 G IF-ED which also according many tests is an excellent alternative for the single lens traveller like me, covering wide angle until large zoom. I will sell my 1 month old Nikkor 18-105 VR, a good lens as well but missing my favourite higher zoom range I appreciated so much with my Panasonic FZ50,
all the best,
Paul

Hi Stan, many thanks for your visit and encouragement.
Yes indeed, I still discover new options with my new D90 every day. And how fantastic that several steps above 800 ASA do not cause restrictive high noise levels as experienced before.
All the best my friend,
Paul

Very impressive shot, amazing how the water is so calm, so you have A PERFECT reflection at the middle, the tree is great too, adds wildness into the frame, as about the people down there is another great element to fill up so nicely the frame, great shot.

Bonsoir Nicki,
Paul

Hi Julie, glad to hear from you again. So far I like my new adventure. Although I can read Norwegian pretty well, I do not yet understand the spoken language very well. Fortunately most Norwegians also speak English and German which makes life much easier.
The D90 is a great camera, with many options and great properties, although instead of the standard Nikkor 18-110 VR, I advise to go for the slightly more expensive 18-200 VR instead, in case you prefer one single lens for travel.
Hugs and kiss from me too,
Paul

Hello dear Paul,
I guess I have missed some updates in your life but I am glad to catch up now. Congratulations on the new job, city and new camera. How do you like it so far? I am thinking about getting the D90 in a couple weeks. Let me know how you like it.

Ti auguro buon soggiorno in Norvegia, anche se sara molto diverso da Parigi. Ma so che tu trovi sempre qualcosa di interssante da fare ed a scoprire.

Hi Michele, I'm happy to catch up with you again. Also many thanks for your detailed comment. Yes indeed I got some more snow last few days, but some rocks never color white. These are real rocks, resisting to everything coming from outside :-)
hugs and kisses,

Hi Mojgan, I'm honored by your constructive and kind comment. Your portfolio shows so many excellent and creative street captures. I appreciate your work very much.
By the way I fly to London tomorrow, stay in Wimbledon and in Kensington, will be back in Stavanger again at Thursday. I hope to get across some special experiences in, and POV's of London as well,
all the best,
Paul

Hi Sunset man, I have also no idea who you are. It doesn't matter so much who I am as it matters what my photo is :-) The over-sharpening is caused by the upload parameter "light" I think that a Nikon D90 produces ultra sharp images at its own, so next time no sharpening filter during upload needed. Thanks for the remark. I test it tonight without this filter and will delete after as soon as I have seen the difference.
Glad that you liked the reflection "somewhat". However it was simply there, could not avoid it, so I got it spontaneously fully integrated in my picture :-) Sometimes I'm so lucky without doing any special effort. best regards, Paul
