About Yesterday evening at Château de Versailles for a party and dinner.
600 people were invited with a Gala Dinner in “La Salle de Bataille” one of the most beautiful decorated and wall painted halls in this possibly most famous château of the world. Some artists were around as shows this capture. In this audience I was only a lost scientist and .. just Paul :-)
Unfortunately I had no better camera with me than the tiny 1,07 M pixel camera built in my Sony Digital Handycam I bought more than 10 years ago. I recently sold my 10M pixel Panasonic FZ50 bridge wanting to buy a new reflex camera. Finally.
As the pictures are all such small (180 kb) with my Sony and I can even upload more of them as direct attachments, I show some more from the Château “to give you a better picture”.
Let’s be honest : not a better but a more complete picture :-)
A friend of me from Oman just advised me yesterday to buy the Nikon D3 he owns himself because the D300 was not so very good according to him at ASA 3200 :-0 That happened after I asked him advice in choosing between a bargain priced D80 (550 euro) and the new D90 (950 euro).
I thought that class differences only existed in past times in and around Château de Versailles but apparently nothing has changed since.

Still thank you very much for your comment and suggestion Moigan. I took a break from UF and also I'm looking forward in buying a new camera. I did not decide which one will fit me best on frequent travel with a good image quality at high ASA settings,
best regards,
Paul

Thank you for your comment Stan. Hard to choose between the latest Lumix and Olympus bridge cameras. They give value for relative little money. If spending more on a DSLR you will get better as well, but the problem I think with all expensive things is the high risk and the bad feeling in guarding and sometimes loosing a fortune in camera and lenses during travel.
All the best, Paul

Hi Harry. I could not save her. They cut off the head of Marie-Antoinette, but I used surgical cosmetics with PS to repair the man's arm,

Hi Nicki. Indeed a nice party and dinner. The photo composition could have been somewhat more in balance by creating more space and inventing some part of the man's arm. I added an attachment with the PS version.
gros bisous,
Paul

Dear Tommaso,
Good comment. I did the arm's repair with PS as shown to Ania and Srna just before.
I really felt like a surgeon. You might say that the operation was a success :-)
all the best,
Paul

Surgeon repaired the man's right arm

Paul de Beukelaar Paul de Beukelaar   {K:26449} 10/13/2008
Dear Srna,
thanks for making me awake, now returning to UF.
I was indeed very busy last days with other things.
But you motivated me to try some improvement for this ballroom picture as Ania and others already suggested. I hope you like this one as shown in the attachment.
I had cropped the man's arm because of a person unfortunately sitting in front.
I used PS to remove the unwanted part of this person and replaced it by some tissue of the coat. I hope you like it more.
You know that cutting the arm was less severe as cutting the head off as what happened to Marie-Antoinette :-)
hugs from Paul

Hi Ania,
I had cropped the man's arm because of a person unfortunately sitting in front.
I used PS to remove the unwanted part of this person and replaced it by some tissue of the coat. I did this job like a surgeon and got the result as displayed in the attachment,
I hope you like it.

dank je Riny. Het was allemaal theater maar ook de actuele werkelijkheid drong door in het feestgedruis.
Zo is het feestende hof vroeger ook niets gespaard gebleven.
Geniet evengoed van je weekend,
Paul

Thanks a lot for giving your opinion about the camera aspect. The tools to achieve technical perfection and quality are all an investment and are strictly needed for the professional approach.
It's amazing that we tend to judge on quality on people's work depending on what latest CMOS and lens they could afford and that judging is also depending on the level of friendship they developed. I notice this and I do not judge here about those facts which I see as reality,
all the best,
Paul

enjoy your weekend,

You could only leave more space on the left not to crop the men's arm
but I like it anyway:)

Saad Salem Saad Salem   {K:89003} 10/8/2008
dear Paul,it is not the camera alone as you see from your 1.07 mega results, but to be fair, the D3 is definitely the best if you not consider the price difference,D90 is a little advanced than D80,but the dropped price of D200,because the introduction of D300,is the best bargain, unless you thing of D300,which is according to the experts at photo.net even in some points better than D3,my best regards,
Saad.
