Hi Paul, glad to see this one up on the front page. 3 years later but still great. What a strong and athletic model. Very tough pose and she is making it look easy. Good light, detail, skin color and studio set up!!
Be well, stan

I'm doing well, Saad!
Enjoying the beautiful Spring weather in Boston.
The great news is that I am securing a studio downtown to start shooting more often!

Off to Home Depot to get candy and mylar...

  0

Paul Lara Paul Lara   {K:88111} 10/9/2008
Well, I keep my van stocked with candy, Pat. That helps attract the A-list women. ;)

The 'floor' is actually a 6-by-2-foot sheet of reflective Mylar from Home Depot. I cropped the shot at the front edge of the mylar.

Patrick Ziegler Patrick Ziegler   {K:21797} 10/9/2008
I like it allot! How come girls like that don't wander into my studio? :-(

Tell me, How do you do that floor?

As I explained to Ian, The possibility of reflection is limited as that mylar panel is only two feet wide, and stops just at the bottom edge of the frame (which is why it was cropped there).

I could have presented a more complete reflection by shooting from a higher angle, but then defeats my mission here, which was to shoot her profile, and not frontal.

Paul Lara Paul Lara   {K:88111} 10/1/2008
LOL,
So in other words a *completely* different shot, eh?

The possibility of reflection is limited as that mylar panel is only two feet wide, and stops just at the bottom edge of the frame (which is why it was cropped there).

I could have presented a more complete reflection by shooting from a higher angle, but then defeats my mission here, which was to shoot her profile, and not frontal.

Why, THANK you, Sophie. We did want to limit the palette in this shot, so hearing your critique I guess we succeeded. ;)

Sophie King Sophie King   {K:3250} 10/1/2008
I LOVE this shot. I love the beige but if it was me, and i know it would create an entire new image with a different impact, but i would have worn red or green or a lighter pink or blue or something like that. The beige kind of gets lost around her ankles. Its a FANTASTIC shot, great angle and the lighting is perfect. gorgeous model!

Oh, I understand now, NJ.
Yes, there are shots that are technically excellent, but don't move the viewer. I've had my fair share of those before. ;)

Thanks for the explanation, and for the kind words.

Paul, there are a lot of perfectly composed pictures that present no impact or a strength to capture viewer's attention. This was my point. Anyway, congrats on your great recognition with the SC, I'm happy for you. Cheers, NJ

Ian Miller Ian Miller   {K:9190} 9/30/2008
Nice idea, though I think different lingerie and if it showed a full reflection as well as the original model, then it would be great. But that's just me.

Thanks, Avi.
Rossi has a degree in fashion design and marketing so when she gets excited about an idea, I listen carefully.

I will tell you that my other shot with Rossi was all my idea, after realizing what stems she brings to the shoot:

Can you elaborate 'strength' ? Do you mean emotional impact?

  0

Andrzej Pradzynski Andrzej Pradzynski   {K:22541} 9/28/2008
Paul, here you are, I see great perfection here. I'm always balancing an impact between perfection and strength - surprisingly those things are not up in the same basket quite often.
It's lovely picture indeed, NJ

  0

Paul Lara Paul Lara   {K:88111} 9/28/2008
Yes, the pose WAS her idea; why?

  0

Avi  Avi     {K:70138} 9/28/2008
FANTASTIC. But, what do you mean 'create this shot' ? Don't tell me the pose was her idea ...
