I dived back to this older posting Gust@vo as it is one of many that I missed whilst away from UF. It is a most delightful monochromatic study of young Julia. Explanations of explanations of explanations, but the thing remains the same. An image (or even a whole series of images) with a 10 year old kid that plays Marlene Dietrich again and again, which is then seriously posted as a "portrait", is at least ridiculous. You could just as easily adjust the camera, tell her to get ready, let her pose, shoot, and while she (hopefully) relaxes again to normal states, fire another one or even more of them in series. But no, you insist on exactly this kind of completely laughable poses, which doesn not only say something about Julia. It also says something about Gustavo, ey? ;-)
I don't care about any Julia of this world, Gustavo. I am here for photography, not for Julia. Even if I wanted to see Julia, where is she? For what you capture again and again is definitely not Julia. It is Julia behind the mask of a wannabe Greta Garbo.
You want to see a real good portrait of somebody's kid? Take a look: http://www.usefilm.com/image/1444705.html . May I remind you of the fact that Andre Denis is also a father? So don't tell me about being a father, and that I cannot understand that, and all the other "explanations". I can understand something else, and that's a good image!

Hola Nick, bueno, tené en cuenta que Julia tiene 10 años solamente, trata de posar como más le gusta sin ninguna pretensión más que verse bonita para ella misma... Ella NO es una modelo profesional ni pretende serlo, ni sabe lo que es... Seguramente vos no tenes una hija pre adolescente para entenderlo...;-). La toma la hice en modo automático y no registré la apertura.

Good image for its very nice capture of the plasticity of a a face! And a very well done separation from the background at that small distance difference from the camera! A real control of the DoF! BTW, what was your aperture here?
The tonal range is well balanced as it lets almost everything else but the face expression in darker tones, and so the face itself seems even more luminous and dominates the image. Still the details on the hair are quite visible too!
The pose... sigh! On the B&W it gets even more noticable, but in general ot is a more or less dilletantic try to look like "a diva". But she missed that and she only looks laughable. A pity since the image is technically such a good one. Change your timing, Gustavo, and capture some more sincere moments. (She has some, doesn't she?) This one is trying to play a jetplain while being only a bicycle.

Es divina! No hay nada como las fotos de los hijos para sobreponer cualquier malestar! Te salió preciosa, y no es cosa del azar, es tu sensibilidad y diestro manejo de las herramientas a tus manos. Es una obra de arte Gustavo; me gusta mucho la nitidez de su cara, el fondo y la expresión de inocencia; la mirada que las hijas tienen para sus padres y con la cual saben cómo hacernos bailar en la palma de sus manos.

Excelente retrato Gustavo, muy buena composicion y bien captada la expresion de Julia. El rostro y el fondo muy bien logrados una muy buena armonia. Me gusta tambien la version color, la veo mas fresca. Muy buen trabajo amigo.

I love this one dear Gustavo, I am sure Julia is a great big sister. Beautiful lighting again my friend. Love Julia's color version as well, I think I like it better than the B&W.
