About Toronto is the largest city in Canada. It is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. With over 2.5 million residents, it is the fifth-most populous municipality in North America. It was a really nice city to visit, at times I felt like I was in NYC since these two cities are so similar in many ways. Glad to be back home :)

The different tones of gray and black highlight just enough of the details to make the city lok intriguing. I love your choice of B&W for this. Your capture of the water is great. I can almost see it moving. Great image.

Great composition. I love my country. Quebec, Ottawa and Victoria for me the most beautiful cities of Canada. Edmonton has 900 Parks and many lakes.

PERFECT! Sky, sea... and a FLAT city silhouette with amazing different towers to make a superb shape, that flat fealling on the buildings are 'all the money here' and I bet that photo can be a great sign for a company!!! really that is stunning, that goes into my favorites Julie, my complements!

AJ Miller AJ Miller   {K:49168} 7/7/2008
An absolute classic.

Re the centred / non-centred debate: the tower is not perfectly centred in any case. But I would be tempted to crop the left side of the image so that the low buildings to the left of the first high-rise balanced the low buildings to the right of the last high-rise on the right-hand side. Then the array of high-rise buildings would be centred, but the tower would not.

That still leaves a centred shoreline. I would not crop any of the sky as then you would lose some of the clouds which add textural interest. So if anything is to go, it would have to be some of the water in the foreground. But I'm not sure it's necessary. Anyone else have any views?

AJ

Hi Doyle, yes I do know what you mean. At first I was questioning my decision of putting the tower in the center as well but then I went for it as CN Tower is the biggest attraction in Toronto, it stands at 553.33 meters/1815 feet tall so I figured it deserved to be the center of attention in my picture :)
I am glad you like it. Thank you for your comment and for reinforcing that I made the right decision :)
My best,
Julie.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique I'm going to echo David on this one (ok, an English echo but you know what I mean). The darker clouds on the lighter left sky work well to accent this shot as does the tower. Love getting some info too. Nicely done and the tower central to the composition is one of those rare exceptions to the rule of thirds that works in this composition ver well!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Excelente toma de la ciudad, una hermosa captura. Muy bien la composicion y unos blanco y negros hermosos... buenos grises. las nubes y la torre central le dan un toque muy especial. El reflejo del a torre es increible.
Muy buen trabajo Julie! Buen retorno a casa!
Te dejo un abrazo!
David
