Very beautifully image, Tim! I am not sure about your crop decision to cut off the second sharp subject. If it were blurred, it would not matter, 'though! I am sure it was difficult to isolate one subject and get adequate dof at the same time. A second point is the heavy saturation which works so dramatically for you in landscapes may not be as effective on a floral such as this. I have the impression that the yellows are blown out in places. Tim, I like the image and am being reflective about this - only because you asked! :) Eb

Hi Francisco, Being new to the floral thing I wasn't sure were I wanted the focus....so I guess I will have to make some poorer ones on the road to the unattainable perfection that we all seek. If ever achieved then maybe things are boring there after...lol...

:-) I get your point; however, I think that you got good vision, your sight may be challenged (like mine). I always fight with my glasses when shooting...

I was also shooting handheld.....hate tripods....but this may be a big failing when shooting florals...lol..

Yeah, i did use Auto focus but had the focus box on the center of the flower in the foreground...my vision is not good enough for manual, I don't think. My F stop was 4.5 so the DOF was very tight due to low light and a slow lens. I have a few more and will post them later today...

Excellent saturation and a beautiful bouquet. The subject in focus appears to be the leave behind the main flower, which seems not very prominent in the composition. Did you use autofocus?
Love these orchids, they have the most amazing shapes!
Cheers!
