Thank you so much dear Ania. I liked this shot when I was getting everything ready. I wanted to kneel on the ground so I could get a little more sky in the shot but it had just rained.

Ah, and here i found a collegue-IR photographer again, not so many around these days .. i like your work, it's pretty close (about the same hues) to the colour work i do with the Canon 300D .. so i'll add you to my list, buddy !! ;-)

This one looks great, well composed, and with overwhelming impact !

Peter

I am so sorry Roger, not sure how I missed your question. I converted the camera myself by removing the hot mirror also known as the IR block filter, now that this is removed the camera takes IR shots and reasonably normal shutter speeds through a filter you can hardly see through, and one of them I can't see anything through with my eyes unless I hold it up to the sun, but the camera can expose images fine. Very amazing concept and hard to explain

Thank you so much Martin, yes I agree completely. I strongly believe that IR tranforms an image, I took some photo's at a freinds house and they said wow, that is nice where is that. They walk past this spot at least twice a day, it was taken from their front door.

Holy cow another awesome shot Dan! The group you've posted with the IR look/feel are really great, it truly gives a whole new perspective on something that could easily be considered "common". Thanks for the refreshing photos!

Thank you so very much Kiarang, I am really enjoying the Infrared world and experimenting with it in so many ways, each time I expect something to look a certain way or colour or shade it suprises me by being quite different. A great challenge

Hey Jen, you can breath now my dear ;-). Thank you so much for your comments. Had our first frost yesterday so could have taken IR looking shots without IR camera :-). Not it has never snowed here ever in history. The drinks sound great maybe you can bring me that Heineken ;-). Hugs and Kisses, Dan

Thank you so much John for your detailed repsonse, it is greatly appreciated. For me I have found that for a reason that I am not sure of tree's and the leaves in IR in the foreground look amazing in IR, seem to be lovely bright and clear, even though the focus is quite a way past them. Thank again my friend

IR is great and so here... I love how the colours changed here, how the sunlighted trees at the background looks like...being full in snow! :-D and that soft azure-grey color of the sky - water is one of my favorite colours, I think that color has lot to give in emotional way.
After that, there is another good element here Dan, the way you 'use' the foreground tree - brunch as a secontary natural frame to your landscape... always I like that in photography.
best regards!

Dan Wilson Dan Wilson   {K:21104} 6/5/2008
Thanks Dev,

Not a problem, I learnt it on the web, there was no document specific to the G6, they advise that they were going to publish the doc's, I just followed two of the other docuemnts and worked it out from there, as it turned out it was much easier than both the others. Had to buy the correct tool to remove the sensor.

There is this link http://www.kleptography.com/notes-irconvert.htm and this one, most likely to be helpful http://www.lifepixel.com/IR.htm. I just found these by typing infrared conversion canon in google.

Regards Dan, if you have any other questions feel free to ask

Dev    {K:3547} 6/5/2008
Dan, this is just beautiful. I would like to know how you converted the G6 to a IR camera? Do you mind sharing those details? I have a sony DSC camera in adition to my DSLR. Just wondering if I can convert that one?

TIA

Harry we don't learn if everyone goes, nice pic. Like so many people here.

I am the same as you, like to point things out to people that I don't like, they can take it or leave the comment. I always try hard to make it clear that it is a suggestion and not a dig.

Thank you again my friend

Thank you, Dan, in general I might have been picky or sound critical to all my critics but it’s a joy for me to share great times with the photographer :) I love photography!!!
once again cheers to you and to your work!!!

Thank you so much Harry, I am truely honoured. I have converted the camera to dedicated IR work so this made quite some difference, made it a lot easier. Will keep it up because I am really enjoying it, much easier post processing to change the sky colour from brown to blue now that the camera has been converted.
