About Rose Hare posted a picture of the Lake Winnipeg Research vessel frozen in the ice at the dock in Gimli, Manitoba.
http://www.usefilm.com/image/1400455.html Here it is in warmer weather.
This vessel does research on the water problems concerning Lake Winnipeg, mainly the algae blooms that occur in the summer. It is the form Canadian Coast Guard Vessel Namao, which was sold to the Lake Winnipeg Research group for a nominal amount, provided it was painted any colour except red!

I understand, Dave! Definitely the reflection adds much to the image. I don't know though of the reflection of the rest of the ship is enough, as the reflection of the masts are weaker. I think it's just personal perception in this case.

Cheers,

Nick

She sure looks like a grand old vessel and nicely captured. Very colourful on a bright day, and the reflection in the water and beautiful blue sky make me wish Winter was over. Best regards.

Hi Nick, thanks for the comment! Yes, I could have cropped it a little closer, but I wanted to get the full reflection in, including the masts.
Dave.

Hi Del, thanks for the comment! You're exactly right, the former colour was Coast Guard red and white.
Dave.

I like the blue or blue reflection. What was the objection to painting it red? Is that the color the Canadian Coast Guard vessels are painted? Del.

Very good details and quite a well balanced toning/exposure under the strong sunlight, Dave! I am impressed from the fact that the white railings are still so well visible in front of the also white parts of the ship! And the DoF is also just as exactly sharp as it can get here. Perhaps only a bit of zooming in - or was it already the maximum possible zoom?

Cheers,

Nick

"You can have any color as long it is black" (Henry Ford). Like the inage with the reflections in the lake.

Cheers, Markus

Hi Dave
Great photo! It looks so much more inviting in summer. I really like the reflections. I think it adds more that there is that bit of ripple in the water.
