On 30.12.07 we went to my grandmother's house. It was a really hot day so the kids went to a garden behind the building where there's a small fountain. You can imagine the mix - kids, heat, water... Lots of fun and nice images!
I took my 300/4.5 EDIF AI and my monopod because, since I always shot it handheld, I still had doubts about its sharpness. No more!! The lens is amazing, it was my fault I didn't had too many extremely sharp images. With the monopod it's simply almost as sharp as my 180/2.8 ED AIS. Colors are great - but they always were.
I'm really happy with the results as I was considering selling this lens. But I actually have to blame myself for the previous inconsistent results on big enlargements (30x20cm and up). Handholding a 300mm (and up) lens is not a good idea unless its a really very bright day. On previous shots with it I had images at speeds as slow as 1/30s and was complaining about lack sharpness on big enlargements... Well, I'm not that steady anymore. This monopod was the best upgrade I could make on my lenses.
The shots this day were with speeds varying from 1/60s to 1/250s and apertures either at 8.0 or 5.6. This is due to the weather - hot windy day with some small clouds that come and go quickly.
