This photo was taken on 23rd February 2003 at Ulley Reservoir, which is found in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. Adjustments made in Photoshop are cropping, and the adjusting of Levels and Hue/Saturation.
I've just seen your Ulley Park photo in your portfolio and it looks like the scouting mission has paid off very well indeed! ;-)
Thanks for telling me the location of your cubism photo - it's amazing what things we drive past every week and don't even notice. Though we never get out of the car on this trip, and it's usually around 11pm when we're in that area.
I didn't mean to pester you for an email, but I just wanted to be sure that you got the ones I sent you. Take your time to reply, no rush. My emails have been a bit unreliable since my ISP started changing things about, so I never know what has been sent and what has been lost in the system! :-(
I called in at Ulley the other morning, but it was damp and grey, not a good morning for photos, but certainly good for scoping out locations. I think you took this shot from the small overflow or in amongst the trees, thats where the best angle is.
Thanks for the comments on the cubism shot, yes its real, you drive right by it every time you drive over the woodhead pass. As you drive up out of Tintwistle it's the overflow between the 2nd and 3rd dams. The gubes are placed to trap stray logs and large pieces of crap. A sort of very coarse filtration system.
I'll get round to answering your mail in the next few days, just been way too busy recently ;-)
Hi Keith, I'm glad that someone can get out of bed in the mornings, because I certainly can't! ) I'll look forward to seeing your photos - that boat is always tied down in the water by the visitor hut, so it's a ready made photo. I'm sure you will show me how it's done properly though!
Hi Stephen, I can feel a visit to Ulley coming on because I'm impressed with this shot. An early morning visit should put a dramatic sky behind those hills.
The boat certainly makes this photo, without it there would be very little interest. Good work
