About Here is a shot of the main branch of the Bank of Montreal in Winnipeg. At one of the most famous intersections in Canada, Portage Ave. & Main St., this is one of the more interesting older buildings here. When Joe posted this shot http://www.usefilm.com/image/1283635.html I noticed the similar architecture, and told him I'd post the one from Winnipeg, and finally got around to it!

winnipeg does have its share of older buildings downtown. great to see this part of our heritage is being preserved. these buildings have all but disappeared from many cities around the world these days in the rush to "develop."

Thanks very much Dave. I agree the architecture is similar. Banks had to look large, imposing and solid in those days to instill confidence in investors so they would be willing to trust them with their hard earned money. I like your night treatment of the building. It amplifies those characteristics. Very well done my friend.

You captured it with agreat light and stunning details especially considering the time of the day, Dave! The subtle glow of the building in the night brings much atmosphere. Perhaps a bit less sky and more of the street would fit better the composition. Or a tighter crop (attachment)?

All the best,

Nick

P.S.: Did you alter it towards sepia, or is it the original?

Tighter crop
