I like the idea, but as Debra suggests, I guess it would be better to keep part of your background out of the composition. Also, in my opinion, the center of the cotton thing you are framing as your subject is a tad bit over-exposed. I would either have changed my angle, or perhaps waited for the light to go low a bit more.
Your subject is very interesting and has nice textures, but the background does not compliment it. Therefore I would try cropping it right down until your subject is the only thing in the frame. Keep up the good work. Debra
