About This man lives in Fushe Kosove. A smll town just outside Prishtine, the capital of Kosovo. His house has no windows, the roof of his 'house' is down, the walls of 'his sleeping room' are full of cracks, a palm can go through, and they are all black from the smoke of a flameless fire.

Yeah I met with him only that day, but i still see him whenever i pass by his house which is close by the highway that i frequent a lot.
What i can tell you about him is that he is hard to be understood, first for his blathering language- like speaking to himself-- maybe because he lives alone and has no soul around whith whom he could exchange a few words. and where he lives is absolutely nonhuman.
thanks for the interest Wayne,
regards,
V.

Truly amazing image!
Outstanding composition and contrast!
Indeed, a sad story though.
Did you meet with the man? Was he in good spirit?

It doesn't take much to think of how far away from health care and a flushing toilet he may be but perhaps a mark of my bourgois sensibilty thrills first at the freedom and excitement that a man somewhere can be found living in a cave.
What wisdom does he share
gazing at the stars,
or gasping for air?

This is serious documentary, Visar. It really touches me deeply like art should do. I don´t care about commenting technique but the atmosphere that is so hopeless and sad, an old man that should live a comfortable life surrounded by his family instead lying there alone in almost debris from years scattered by civilwar and poverty. This deserves lots of attention both for the quality but even more so to become aware of such suffering that is within the European borders - not far away.

The thumbnail just doesn't give justice to this timeless image. Composition is especially good for me, the way the eye settles on the man then drifts downward to his few possessions. The smoke gives an incredible atmosphere. It's a sad and lonely image that makes good photojournalism. You should be proud of this one.
Regards, Gary

This is one of the best photos that I have seen so far from you Visar, it is just a full of emotion, a shot that really speaks out. you cant help looking at this photo & not get emotionally involved. that is the great miracle of photography, feeling the emotion of the moment that the photographer felt, long after it happend. this is really your style! great work
all the best to you

Uri Lidsky   {K:4932} 10/13/2007
well, i really think that this image is excellent without the story as well. very good B&W image with great tones and a beautiful composition. i think that if you would crop it a bit tighter it might be stronger. the story, off-course, adds more sadness to this image.
Uri.

The composition on its own is very good, but it is your description that really makes this a compelling story. Thank you so much for sharing this experience.

well I really don't think that can be someone to....critique that...
it's amazing, the lighting, the pose, the smoke, everything here gives a dramatic tone, even THE FRAME works to gives that dramatic mood here and so that is pro stuff... I believe that... it's amazing!!!

Dear Nessa, thanks a lot for your thorough comment on this photograph. I have qualified it as one of the best photos i have taken so far, and any critique would i welcome.
Many of the days i travelled back and forth to my work, i had seen this man sitting in front of his house, always in the same spot. and seeing him there provoked my attention so I decided to do a story on him.
Being with him, listening to all his tengled thoughts was painful!
regards,
V.
