About Hi All, yet another shot from my project, Ok then, this is the largest machine in the fleet, this is the 'Chevington Collier Dragline', It gets the name 'DRAGline' because the way it digs, it drags the earth towards itself, then swings around and dumps the earth behind. This beast is 1260 tonnes and runs on electricity would you believe, 2 men operate the machine, one man drives it and the other stands and puts the fifty pence pieces in the meter all day.....LOL, I was told that the electricity costs were around 500 pounds per hour to run this beast. The 'JIB' (the frame work at the front) is all hollow steel tubing, when the machine is running there is dyed air pumped into the tubing and attched to a pressure guage, if the guage drops in pressure then its a fair sign that there is a crack in the 'JIB', then its a case of looking for the dye and welding the crack. Well I hope I havent bored you to much with the info. Enjoy!

Regards

Ian...
