Hey thanks Dave! I really liked the Sigma on this trip. It was my first real chance to use it and I was very happy.

Nice view and even nicer sky. I am so glad to see this photo, I just got my Sigma 10-20 yesterday and am excited about going out to use it. This way I get a preview! Love the perspective it gives.

Best wishes,
Dave

Thanks Doyle! I thought that was for images only taken with a "panoramic" point and shoot type of camera. That is good to know as I have many huge wide angle landscapes and can try some experimentation with them.

Hi Alan:

There are a variety of methods to obtainining a panoramic shot. In this case what I am suggesting is that if you have a large original image of decent resolution, you can crop as you mentioned (and like the example). The longest side must be at least twice as long as the shortest side. (2:1 Ratio). The key is to shoot for 400k but NOT to reduce the long side to 850 pixels . . . ignore physical dimensions other than to be certain that the image is panoramic. The advantage to donors is that the image need not be downsized to scale. Donors would get a link to see full size versions . . . or at the very least larger versions . . . For example:

http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1123037

Under this image click the blue HERE where it says to click for full size panoramic and maximize the window. You'll see MUCH more detail . . . as will all donors.

Hi Doyle,
I'm afraid that I don't know what you mean by a panoramic crop. Do you mean just cropping the top and bottom of the photo? Is that what you did in the example? Can you explain?

Thanks!

Al

Another beautiful shot of this beautiful place Alan. If you have this in high resolution I would encourage you to look into a possible panoramic crop . . . not to detract from this but to see what MIGHT be. I did a very quick look and found one possible crop with promise and there may even be more . . . just a thought! :)
