Stunnnig photo, these buildings as silhouettes looks very nice under the contrasted backlight of the sun, ahhhh....amazing Venetian, isn't it? Well I hope to be there, I open my camera and just shot EVERYTHING!!!! ...and I mean it! hahahahaha....without watching even what I shot, great place, I bet you had great time!

Exceptional coloring here, Dave! Only those warm red/orange tones of the sunset and almost black - and here is one thing I think could be better, namely to let the city be a completely black silhouette against the sky. Especially at the borders of the sun and the roof some sharper contours would help. Perhaps also a bit of rotation in order to straighten it?
What I am not very sure about is if the water at the bottom makes it better, or if it should be cropped off. I tried that but I can't say if it gets better this way.

Dave, obviously this is an awesome shot. However, you hear a "but" coming! I would have moved to the right to put the sun completely behind the tower. I am not saying that I would have not taken this capture, I just would have explored the other alternatives.

I like the use of the lighting to create a silhoutte feel to the entire photo. You saw some beautiful sights in Venice and I am enjoying them. I hope there are more to follow. Del.
