About Those branches are on our very large Fig tree... February, and supposed to be covered in leaves and fruit... These birds, tho' pretty & delightful to watch, they are destructful hoodlums... Levels, contrast, unsharp mask and clone artifacts... crop, small black frame...

Great shot Leonie,
Sounds like these guys are "cute but psycho" LOL.
And thank you for all the information provided about their natural history.

*LOL* I know what it would be like as we have had pigeons almost destroying parts of the expensive roof!
Thank you so much for the offer to let us stay with you if ever going to Australia- I can only say the same! There´s always a place here for you and your family.
I have been thinking about going to Tasmania seing parts of the island on TV after our crownprince got married to a local Mary:-)
Take care:-)

LOL Jan... I just wanted them to stay still long enough for me to get a clean shot... I have tried so often and usually end up with BLURRRRRR!!!... and don't worry, if they spot you looking at them they usually just turn their backs and keep chewing... Sort of, if they can't see you, you can't see them ~~GRIN~~...

Thanks for the thumbs up Sir... really appreciate it Jan...:)))

LOL Robbie... I wish you luck most definately Sir... Windies is going to have a clean sweep with the Tests... Trust me... I know these things ~~GRIN~~...

All teams go through slumps as they go through change... I think the hardest thing is to have faith in yourselves when the Tabloids put teams down...

To think positive, play as a team of the here & now, and not try and live up to the past legends... There are other Brian Lara's and Viv Richards, Michael Holdings etc etc... (all cute from a female perspective lol)...

It's a wonderful game, so go get 'em Robbie... :))) and thanks for the congratulations Sir... I will return them when the Windies return from England...:)))

Thanks kindly for your words, appreciated heaps...:)))

Hugs to sunny Amsterdam from getting colder Downunder...:)))

Thanks dearest friend Riny...:)))

~~GRIN~~ Annemette... Just thinking about what these parrots would do to your beautiful home, with the thatch, and those glorious trees, the gate... ~~GRIN~~ a virtual smorgasboard...;)))

If you and your family ever get *Downunder*, you are more than welcome to stay with us and *shoot* the birds, so to speak... LOL...

Thanks heaps sweet Annemette...:)))

Seriously, this is a good point, still images lack sound. Sound is often a key element in a scene which can not be easily captured by the still camera. That is one reason I like video.

Birds sure can be noisy, we found the great horned owl on Friday because of the noise a bunch of crows were making. The beautiful songs of song birds are also missing no matter how well taken and beautiful the image.
All the best,
Joe

LOL Joe... NOISE!!! did you say NOISE!!!... No wonder there is NOISE... These birds are some of the noisiest... Mobs of up to a thousand all yelling at once ~~GRIN~~... that's probably where the NOISE came from... I had nothing to do with it... Honestly I didn't...)))

Seriously, thanks heaps Joe for the help, looks way better, quieter somehow ;)))... I just by-passed the Neat Image, don't ask why, can't remember, brain full of holes at moment...~~GRIN~~

Glad you enjoyed these NOISY birds tho' LOL...

Appreciated always...:)))

~~GRIN~~ Marlyce... Most of the parrots, small or large, are great mimics and talkers... Very clever, and can be trained to do tricks etc... The Sulpher Crested Cockatoo and the pink/grey Galah are the better talkers of the larger parrots... :)))

LOL Marlyce... The wildlife smugglers do all sorts to get these out of the country, and as you said, the money these sell for, certainly would be an incentive to fly on the wrong side of the law ~~GRIN~~...

The noise is phenomenal... When a large mob of up to a thousand are on the wing, as often happens around here, a bomb could go off and you wouldn't hear it... :)

Thanks heaps Marlyce, always enjoy your thoughts...:)))

~~GRIN~~ Michele... OH!!! You can take it for every Aussie that lives outside the big cities... these guys are definately hoodlums...:))) and these are not the biggest, the Sulphur Crested cockatoos are larger again, and also cause big problems...

Parrots have a need to chew to keep their beaks down... and they honestly don't care what it is that they chew... Timber homes in some areas end up almost decimated... INNOCENT!!! but, then again, man did invade their territory...LOL...

Thanks heaps Michele...:)))

LMAO Rog... We have the Sulpher Crested and Galahs as well, but it's the Corellas that cause the majority of the grief, mainly because of the mob size...

The parrots must think we are a ratty bunch with all our arm waving, shouting and banging...LOL

Thanks Rog...:)

Excellent capture of these infamous bandits. They are beautiful despite their hoodlum-like ways. The three are giving you the eye, just waiting for you to leave so they can do their dirty work.
--Best to you, Jan
(PS: love the composition and detail in this one)

These birds sound real nasty. We don't need them here! :)))
Very nice capture, excellent diagonal composition, good light and detail.
Onie I see some colour noise in the bg. I ran it through Neat Image. Seemed to clear it up quite well. It looks like this.
All the best my friend,
Joe

Amazing. Fully understand how you feel about them, and yet here they sell for several hundred dollars apiece, and they are not great talkers compared to some of the others. Bet your house can be loud around roosting time when they all start calling each other.

Nice shot Onie...and love your 'about' !!!

I know exactly what u r saying Onie.. the Sulphur Cresteds are the gang round here... We call 'em Jocks cos LL's grandma had one in a cage years ago called it Jock she did but I compare 'em to a bikie gang the fly into the the place and just as things are starting to go ahead they chew through the branches of all my wattles and just chuck everything on the ground They rape and pillage their way through the seed that we leave out for the King Parrots.. smashed the new bird feeder the neighbours gave LL cos she is always cooking 'em an apple pie or somesuch cos Loretta has recurring brain tumours bloody things I tell ya I go out and yell and bang things together they fly to the nearest tree I chase 'em again and they fly to the NEXT nearest tree and so it goes.. like u say you turn your back.. and back they come

LOL Srna... I don't doubt for a minute they were looking at me... I used to go out, yell loudly or bang things together just to make them leave our trees alone... but, the minute my back was turned they'd just fly into the trees again... ~~GRIN~~ I gave up...

Thank you always for lovely words dear friend...:)))

Hugs...:)

~~GRIN~~ Larry... When you watch them, they stop and pretend they're not doing anything... Clever huh!!!...

Thanks kind Sirr, appreciated always... attaching a pretty rough photo, wind was blowing a gale... This is a huge Eucalypt tree beside our house... The canopy has been decimated, branches bare, dead limbs etc. just by these birds chewing... There are hundreds of birds... the next is an irrigation channel bank opposite us... Hopefully both will load at same time...

LOL Giuseppe... They are very destructive... Chewing the new growth, buds and fruit... Ring barking branches... Digging out farmers new crops... Nipping *FLOWERS* from plants...:(((

They stopped what they were doing when I put my head out the dining room door with the camera ~~GRIN~~... How dare I...

Thanks kindly Giuseppe, appreciated always Sir...:)))
