About In our district, Autumn has become synonym with these spiders. Their golden cobwebs appear everywhere, and all of a sudden the fly population subside to a minimum - see this one munching away on its prey...

Yeah, with my point-and-shoot I can't pull my flash. I can pull my exposure (up to two stops) but not my flash. Step back and zoom in. That and perhaps pulling the exposure can work toward the same end. If you can set it to pull the flash, all the better.

Thanks for the advice, James - not that I quite know where to step down anything yet, but I'm slowly working my way through the manuals - will get there eventually, and maybe I'll become more creative then. BTW, these golden webs are truely amazing - they start appearing in early autumn each year - a fascinating sight at sunset.

Very interesting. Never seen golden webs before.

You shot with flash on this shot? Looks like the flash was too hot for the distance. Step it down for the next one.

Very nice composition, Lydia. The colors and clarity are great. Is that the male spider on the left?
