About Another Millefiori still life -- I have discovered that the quality of this glass is poor. Too much distortion is introduced. I am going to keep an eye out for a quality piece for future photographs.
Tripod, RAW Format with 12 mm kenko extension tube.
Curves adjusted and a blue spot filter with variable saturation was applied.

Thanks, Liz. I could not quite translate the look of the millefiori to my satisfaction because of the high distortion factor of the glass. I have seen high quality millefiori with better optical quality. I will look for a better piece for future photos. So.... this will be the last one for this particular piece.

As for the extension tubes, they were a good investment. The three tube set from Kenko was less costly then the Canon tubes. Kenko can be purchased for either Nikon or Canon cameras and support the lens electronics for many of their lenses. It was a far less costly approach than buying a macro lens but there is a trade off in quality, no doubt. However, that said, I am very happy with the results and have lots of experimenting to do to master the tubes and exploit their capabilities.

Hmmm, drama!!! I hope you find what you are looking for Jan...I like the colours and the content as they make for a great abstract.
Cheers
Liz
PS. How do you find using the extension tubes? I have often wondered about how good they are, and was considering purchase..would you say they are worth it?

Thanks, Marian. I was going nuts trying to get a picture of this glass paper weight; the thick and bubbly glass was creating too much distortion. I am now in search of some quality Millefiori for any future attempts at doing more.
