Thanks again Doyle,
I've always liked the look and feel of those great umbrella shots by Usefilm photographer Mitchell Miller. I didn't want to attempt the photoart style that he uses. So I thought I would try a natural, straight look. I had a lot of fun running back and forth snapping the shots for this one. I had the camera sitting on a stump. So you can imagine the arbitrary rotation feature in photoshop got a good workout when I was preparing this one. :)

Thanks again Virgis,
I'm glad you interpret the image that way! There is nothing like wandering off in natural surroundings by yourself, with a camera. I think that's when I get some of my best inspiration. Sometimes it seems images are everywhere. :)

Wow. I was just about to mention that your bio pic ROCKS and then I see it where it belongs . . . here in your portfolio. I just love the feel this created in the mind of the viewer. The rain and the umbrella accent working to complete a perfectly composed shot. Excellent.

This image should be an award winning, Andre. Here is so much of good feel... that standing out there is core of the image. Well done! 7+

Thanks Kes,
No cameras were harmed in the making of this image :) We don't need no stinkin' tripod!

Hi Andre,

It's as if you are standing in a painting! Very nice!

leaves his camera on a stump in the rain...note to self, don't loan Andre the camera...:)

I think I'll give the tripod a try this weekend too. Haven't done that in awhile.

Have a great weekend,
Kes

Yes Rina, the old umbrella cliche :) I had some fun doing it. Running back and forth in the rain to flip the 10 second time delay. I like your version better for the whimsy aspect. The nice bright primary colours seem in a cheery contadiction to the rather formal suit. I think that is the idea :)
I took some of my wife a couple of years ago on a rainy night at the cottage. I'm not sure if you have seen them or not. I prefer these to mine above.

Ah, the wonderful man-with-umbrella shot. I love it. If there was ever a vision I wanted to try, it's this. Great placement of the subject and the division of colour is marvellous. Lovely painted effect happening there too.

Here's something I tried with hubby a while back. Was to be the first in a series of quirky scenes a la Magritte...

Thanks Annemette,
Now I know what to call those red bushes :) There is such a big difference in the way the bleak landscape looks when it is wet and saturated, compared to dry and dull. It's the time of year when we are caught inbetween the snow and the green.

Very nice mood in this one, Andre, where the rain falling on the leaves and branches can almost be heard. The red kornellooking bushes add a nice colourful depth and line in the photo. This actually looks very much like a Danish landscape.
Best wishes
Annemette

Thanks Fadel,
I was toying with the idea of trying to do a little more alterations to this one in order to make it even more surreal. But I kind of liked the natural look too. I might try another one with some more digital work on it.

I had the camera on a fence post that wasn't very straight, so the originals were skewed on a strange angle. I ran back and forth to where I thought I would be in the scene. (it was a slow day for wildlife shots :) :)

Thanks Andrzej,
The wet bullrushes and leaveless trees do have some interesting colours this time of year.
Yes this is me. I couldn't find any wildlife to shoot, so I put the camera on a fence post and tried a few time delay shots to see what I could get. I ran back and forth a few times like an idiot, push the shutter again with a ten second delay. I hope no one was watching me. They would have thought I was crazy. :)

Andre, the marsh grasses are burning on your picture, they are burning in deep red flames but with no no smoke - very impressionistic brush stroke here dominates your scene. I love interesting color layering demonstrated by similar texture and contrasted tones. The guy really enjoy the search and he's charged to get something good of the place. Is it you? Seems like.
Cheers, NJ

Thanks John,
Those different layers of colour at different distances is one of the first things that I notice in other peoples images too. I suppose nature has a way of making it all go together pleasantly for us.

Thanks Dave,
There wasn't a lot of action going on with the local wildlife, so I figured I'll stick the camera on a stump and take some time delay shots.

Thanks Alicia,
It was very wet out and everything was saturated with rain. I think that makes for interesting colours.
