Bryce is a real nice place, and the rock formations are really impressive, the better way is surely to isolate by zooming as much as you can... or go down in the canyon :)
For the contrast, I have to admit that from a monitor to another it could be very different. When I work those picture on my Gateway they are really nice, but when I look them on my NEC, there's not as good so... think I should rent my Gateway :))

Nice coloring of the geological layers and needle formations, Jacques! A bit more contrast perhaps.
The composition was surely not easy at all, as such format filling patterns tend to contain also some additional "foreign" elemenst here and there. They can be nice points of contrast, but they can also make it hard to concentrate on the main subject when looking at the image - like for example the trees at the bottom right corner. I have the impression that more contrast on them would help to style them as one of the above mentioned points of contrast.
Perhaps also, zooming closer to the rocks would help to manifest the pattern on the image?
