Hi Joggie - thank you ever so much for explaining - your photos are magnificent, indeed. I did crop the macro - I don't ever use the digital zoom (read somewhere that one shouldn't), but maybe I cropped it too much. The photo was taken at 9(F) megapixels and 80 ISO. Thanks again - appreciate your reply.

Hi Lydia - Glad to be of help (hope it make sense!). Keeping in mind your comment that no cropping was done and also no noise reduction etc. my following comments might help:
To get this type of magnification on the drops you may have used the Digital Zoom function of your camera (correct me if not so), which may explain the rugged edges of the drops. Compare with a few of my photos of waterdrops (go to my "list of portfolios" and click on "waterdrops and splashes". Drops have extremely smooth, well defined surfaces and with the right equipment with the needed resolution the photo will show it. If you have used the digital zoom I want to strongly suggest to switch it of (forever). It introduces a lot of unwanted effects - you can rather take the photo at the maximum optical zoom and then crop a section of the photograph on the computer to blow it up if it is sharp enough.

Visited your portfolio - your work is exquisite - I would LOVE to see more of your portraits!

Hi Joggie
I've noticed your impressive portfolio on UF, great stuff.
As you said - I'm new and, I may add, a complete novice. Please believe me that I did not touch the crop to remove anything - wouldn't know how to. But please explain why viewers think the image is not clear enough and why you are of opinion that I stretched the limits of my equipment.
I would like to become a good photographer, but I'm a VERY late starter and am busy studying the Net for info on equipment - mind boggling! I would honestly appreciate any constructive critisism.

I wish the shot were clearer, but what a great find with the large drops hanging low like they are.

Hi Lydia - great to meet another South African on Usefilm. I like the composition of this image very much with a nice even background. It is clear you stretched the limits of your equipment here and it seems like a crop of a bigger photo and you had to work hard on the noise too. Beautiful nonetheless! I like waterdrops - they make marvelous subjects. Kind regards and welcome here on UF!
