About Ok . . . THIS is the Peregrine Falcon. The elusive and fastest of the birds of prey! Marcus Armani points out . . . These are the fastest animals on Earth. Thanks Marcus! I had to check on him and he was right!

Details from Extreme Science:
It turns out the peregrine is the fastest bird on record reaching horizontal cruising speeds of 65-90 kmh (40-55 mph) and not exceeding speeds of 105-110 kmh (65-68 mph). When stooping, the peregrine flies at much greater speeds however, varying from 160-440 kmh (99-273 mph)!

Pairs of Peregrines mate for life, usually setting up housekeeping high in the cliffs. Since we're running out of cliffs in Europe and the U.S. Peregrines have taken to building their nests up on top of high rise buildings in large cities. Peregrine nests are called scrapes, or eyries and baby falcons are called eyasses. Although they have a high mortality rate, Peregrines have been known to live as long as 15 years. Concerned groups of dedicated volunteers care for and rehabilitate these and other birds of prey . . . and enabled me to get this shot!

That's right Michele . . . the fastest animal on Earth. I checked it out and I'm sure you were remembering the cheetah . . . fastest mammal on Earth. Cheetahs have amazing speed for short times. "Someone reportedly timed a cheetah running at 70 mph (114 km/hr) over a distance of 700 yards (640 meters) But many people accept a likelier top speed of about 60 mph (97 km/hr)."

The peregrine is the fastest bird on record reaching horizontal cruising speeds of 65-90 kmh (40-55 mph) and not exceeding speeds of 105-110 kmh (65-68 mph). When stooping, the peregrine flies at much greater speeds however, varying from --GET THIS-- 160-440 kmh (99-273 mph)!

Now as for the Jaguar . . .Advanced aluminium construction, 420bhp supercharged 4.2-litre V8 engine and six-speed Jaguar sequential shift transmission with paddleshift for superb speed . . . just above 180 mph!!! HEHEHEheheheheee!!

Congratulations on another Award here King ... It is well deserved !!! So this is the fastest bird & animals on earth ? How fast do you think ? I thought jaguar went really fast... fater than them ?
Excellent shot with a complimentary BG tone, and matching frame with this Falcons gorgeous coloring tops this image right over the charts 7++++++++++++++++

Doyle my good man I would never call you old! after all I will be where you are now shortly LOL.
I do like your usage of MD Slang to communicate with the younger generation, But who is teaching who.. There is no threat of imminent danger with Bucky McMacho around, I think you could stroll though south central with camera in hand and not be touched, but only seen as an OG :Original Gangster" As GG is able to do being a Gangster Girl LOL..
The thing about Ebonics Is there is no real dictionary, It is more or less a holding place for new slang until society decides wheather or not it goes into websters or the trash...
Flower child concepts only make sense after 2 hits of window pane, and true gangster rap which i actually rarly if ever listen to does make sense to those that have lived what they speak.. You know Ghetto Fabulous and all that, Trust the kid from the ghetto LOL..
And last but not least, Gayle should always be addressed as gangster girl, and Rina as warrior Princess, The other slave names rarly get there attention, though hippy chic and cookie seem to be acceptable but only when conversing with each other??
Now that I realize I have no idea what I just said... Peace out.

Look, you lot are all seriously demented. Either that, or Usefilm is passing out the wacky weed now. 5kg with every upload maybe???? You have no idea how hard it is to decipher what the heck is being said here! Are you guys actually even having a conversation?????

But seriously (and I'm being deadly serious, ok?), if you want to know who is really passing out the 1s, then the standard answer will always be: "Long live UFOs!"...

Sweet jimminy jeepers...

Marcus.

You calling me old . . . uhhhh . . . YO?

(note my impressive use of modern day slang to enable me to facilitate my communications with people from a younger perspective, tempered of course with the Macho always present veiled threat of imminent danger that reinforces the image of me as Capt. Buck Bucky McMacho.)

Woodstock was before my time too. I think. Perhaps the senility IS kicking in . . . but it IS tempered with Wisdom. See, I know "It's all good" isn't Ebonics, Flower child concepts aren't nonsense and there is no such thing as "to the point" Gangsta Rap"!!! LoL!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Gayle's on another page from you Marcus . . . something entirely OFF the site just don't take it personal.
I Think you could have left that comment as such... "Gayle's on another page from you Marcus.. something entirely OFF PERIOD" LOL..

OHHHHH No, The Gerital Generation ganging up on me.... Were you at Woodstock also?
Drug induced words of wisdom coming from a thought process stimulated by hallucinogens written in a way that no one under 40 could ever understand are never taken personally...

That post about being a Judge and working for Nasa was actually intended for G and her later post that somehow landed between her flower child nonsense and my to the point gangster rap...
Sorry If I confused you senility is a terrible thing..
Ok enough joking around G is a great person adn friend, and you are well respected in my book! "This is just how we roll".. you can probably look that up in the same Ebonics book where you found "Its all good" LOL
Peace and love to everyone......

Gayle:

NOBODY thought there was a 1 here (I hope) . . . just Marcus insinuating you might say that about 7s and give one one (does he know you or what?)!!!

And your amazing skill and genius level analysis which indicated that anything OTHER than a 7 reflects poorly on the person giving it . . . well . . . I agree. LoL!!

I'm reminded on Antonio Salieri with your comment. I AM the patron Saint of mediocrity!!!! (Loved that movie, Amadeus). Of course . . . HE could at least recognize brilliance but was cursed with the inability to do brilliant work . . . he could only recognize it in others. Well I TRUMP his mediocrity . . . since I apparently cannot recognize it either!!! LoL!

Anyhoo . . . I'm off to look for something glass to photograph . . . uhhhhhh . . . a gazillion times. Goodbye mediocrity . . . FAREWELL . . . Oooooh . . . a sale at leaded glass R Us!!! LoL!

No Offense to Doyle and sorry for Gs lack of a sense of humor tonight. I Honestly think you are the nature judge that UF is lacking, and the mathematician NASA has been searching for.......

There once was a poet called Gayle, talked so much she turned pale..
A ex-hippy chick that thinks she is slick, but her words (NO) They don't click...
Stick to your abstracts and give up the wise cracks, they make sense to no one
but you.... The 60s are over and Karma went too, so If they are going to hit someone
Its going to be you! peace love sex drugs and rock N roll babe........ LOL
I kept this clean as my parents taught me to be nice to my elders Joking

CONGRATS FOR WELL DESERVED RECOGNITION! (can i call em' or what!)
BTW,to whom it concerns,i wasn't assuming, or declaring that you must have rec'd a low-ball 1 with my first com,i was simply implying that you deserved all 7's..."some people" can't do the math cause a rating of "1" would not give you a current 6.75...heehheee
oh yeah, a bit above "mediocre",eh? quite a bit above!...yeah,i be baaaaaad ;) :)

Marcus> There once was a guy who shot birds...who thought he was clever with words...perhaps too many birds hit his head...it would surely explain what he said...remember KARMA and keep talkin' smack...but don't boo hoo to me when it hits your back!....ba da bing bing!

(sheesh...rollin' eyes after taking a bow)

peace gurl outta here...bahahahahaaaaa ;>

Oh quite right . . . though the talons are their weapon of choice . . . they're not biters but the talons are razor sharp! You know I have a little bit of knowledge about birds! It comes from the amazons biting me now and then (they don't use the talons)! So far I've been lucky and still have all ten of my fingers though! :P

I knew about Whale Day, but I've been sick the last 2 weeks and though being out by the cliffs was not in my best interest.

I'm sad to have missed it, maybe next year.

Congratulations on the great photos. I'm so JEALOUS!

Lisa . . . this was the same deal as the redtail but with a different (and female) handler. MUCH more skittish but she let me get close for the shot. The BG are people at a distance. This one had an injured wing and was not quite ready to return to the wild . . . yet. Apparently you missed whale day? I HAD to go . . . they let us into the light house (all the way to the top) and I met two of the three people who live there! VERY cool!

WOW! I thought the Redtail Hawk wsa an awesome photo, this one is amazing.

Excellent sharp focus, DOF perfect and the light in the Falcon's eye really brings this one to life.

Where abouts in P.V. are these guys? You're so lucky to be at the right place at the right time.

7+++++++++++++!

Marcus . . . Thanks ever so much. Appreciate the comment AND the info. Fastest on earth? Wow. I find these birds very photogenic and the sleek lines and regal bearing is probably why. This shot I had purposely cut the DOF a tad due to the BG being so distracting. The lady was rehabilitating him from an injury for re-release and permitted me to get a bit closer . . . but you can imagine he drew a crowd of observers (luckily standing far enough back) and the thought of them in my shot was . . . well . . . ugh! The red tailed hawk (whose feet are in a comment shot below this picture) was handled by another man for rehab after it was found with paint on his tail. It recovered wonderfully and was due for release. Beautiful birds . . . and these guys were doing great work!

wow this is beautiful, I love the nice lighting perfect exposure and detail, the reflection in the eye is amazing, I love the flattering background, You really made the best of of this photo OP!!!! this is not only the fastest bird of prey but the fastest animal on earth! I have had several encounter with peregrines, and did post a couple in flight but most only saw it as just another bird as you really have to know raptors to apprciate what this falcon can do! I have found that the kestrel was my the most difficult capture but the peregrine was the most satisfying as I had waited so long to get a flight shot and you know I love flight shots, even though It was a juv...

http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1144444
Im sure you have seen this but until i get one in prey this will remain my best effort of many many shots...
