I Googled it and found it. I've attended a number of World Canal Conferences, they maybe the same thing. Looks like quite a substantial structure. Thanks for all the info. I found it interesting. During my career I worked on the Rideau Canal a historic waterway built in 1832 by the British Military for defense of the colony from the Americans.
All the best, Joe

Hi Joe...:)
These are used on the Yarrawonga Weir... The weir is on the Murray River and creates a lake, Lake Mulwala... This is a part of the Murray Darling Basin... Australias largest river system... Involving four states... Australia is approx same size as Canada or US, and we have only 5 states and two territories on our mainland ( the 6th is Tasmania, an island), so this is a very important system to the majority of our population, be it environmently or economically...
At the moment it is also a huge Political issue (~~GRIN~~ elections in 12 months) as Federal Government wants control of all pertaining to the system... A biggie, as we are also in our tenth drought year...
If you do a web search you will find many, many sights (too many to list here) relating to this system and the structures on it...
My husband, Colin, was in charge of this weir structure for 17 yrs, overseeing all maintenance, operations, budgetting, water quality, flood control etc... Also attending World Dam conferences...
Having retired early in '06 due to illness... Was a big part of our lives, as we have moved all over the state during his career of 26 yrs, to dams from flatlands to mountains... Living on site...
Anyway... enough already...~~GRIN~~
Hope you find the search an interesting foray into Aussie water issues...:)
Onie...

Very interesting abstract Onie, The geometrical pattern on a bias is very nice. I am very interested in your text as during my career as an engineer I was responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the structures on a historic canal here in Ontario. I would be interested in seeing more shots of the structure and hearing more about it. I am not at all familiar with locks or canals in Australia.
All the best, Joe
