There is a much easier (and much more conscious) method, Ursula. Read about f/stops (aperture) and how it influences DoF.
Itis really remarkable how many times the selective focus is not selective at all, since it comes out of coincidense (dur to lack of knowledge) rather, than out of the conscious *choise* of what to get sharp.
Best wishes,
Nick

If I get you right, you want to see the whole picture sharp, also the lower corners.I am glad that the wesp is in focus and as a lover of selective focus and shallow dof I like it as it is :))Although i would prefer to have only the wesp and the F11 in focus...maybe with the next wesp !! cheers,Ursula

Well, Ursula, if the region of main interest gets divided by different sharpness levels, then it is quite hard to keep the integrity of the image on a high level. Not that it not possible at all, but "randomisation" of the areas of sharpness will likely create subtle problems.
On this one the lower sharpness of the question mark at the bottom right makes it a bit... cumbersome, though the general value of the image is not influenced very strongly since you did manage to put the "visitor" in the very center of interest. It is such subtkle differences that play a role in the distinction between a very very good image, like this one, and an exceptionally good image. But still, we shoot, we see, we learn.
Best wishes and keep it up,
Nick

I'm stopping bye to check up on my favorite artists, and Ursula is one of the best... I love the contrast between nature and technology. The muted tones and hard plastic edges intensify the curious nature of the bee! It is always a pleasure to see where your mind is taking you, Ursula! ~Brad

A very nice picture of the visitor, Ursula, especially with those brown-sepia tones and the clarity of the photo, the composition of which puts that visitor right in the center of the scene between the foreground and the background.
Perhaps a bit more sharpness on the bottom of the image would make it even better - but on the other hand who has the time to set a narrow aperture when the visitor is about to fly away.
Very nice work - keep it up!
Nick
